Planting Guide
The Acer palmatum Crimson Kingdoes best in full sun to partial shade preferring to grow in average tomoist conditions and in rich soils. Avoid planting in an exposed locationand ensure it is protected from cold winds. It will benefit from beingplanted in a relatively sheltered location and is fairly tolerant topollution. A thick mulch around the root zone in winter will help protectit in exposed locations or colder microclimates. Crimson QueenJapanese Maple makes a fine choice for the outdoor landscape but it is alsowell-suited for use in outdoor pots and containers. It is often used as aits height - plant it near the center of the pot, surrounded by smallerplants and those that spill over the edges. Planted in outdoor containersand baskets it may require more frequent waterings than they would in theyard or garden. In snowy climates this plant may be too tender to survivethe winter if left outdoors in a container.
