Fjellheim Japanese Maple maturesto approximately 4 feet tall with a spread of 3 feet. The low canopy has atypical clearance of 2 feet. Growing at a slow rate it can be expected tolive for 60 years under ideal conditions. This tree does best in fullsun to partial shade. It prefers average to moist conditions and is notparticular to soil pH but grows best in rich soils. The Acer Fjellheim isfairly tolerant of urban pollution, and it will benefit from being plantedin a relatively sheltered location. Thick mulch around the root zone inwinter will help protect it in exposed locations or coldermicroclimates. Fjellheim Japanese Maple makes a fine choice for theoutdoor landscape, but it is also well-suited for use in outdoor pots andcontainers. Plants grown in outdoor containers and baskets may require morefrequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden.
