It grows at a slow rate and, underideal conditions, can be expected to live for 60 years or more. Doesbest in full sun to partial shade and prefers to grow in average to moistconditions with no particular soil pH but grows best in rich soils and willbenefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. Applying athick mulch around the root zone in winter will help protect it in exposedlocations or colder microclimates.
