The Carpinus Fastigiata tree can eventually attain a width of 15m. It iscolumn-shaped only when young. Sometimes specimens are found that branchout from ground level and can thus be pruned annually. The tree is oftenconfused with the 'Columnaris' cultivar, which remains narrower. The leavesare a fresh green colour in the spring and turn colour to golden yellow inthe autumn. Several cultivated varieties of the are popular as avenue andstreet trees.
Garden Use
Mostly used for trees liningavenues and broad streets, parks, squares, theme parks, cemeteries,industrial areas, large gardens, windbreaks and shade. Not suitable forsmall gardens.
