The vibrant blue bloom of the Felicia amelloides is its identifyingtrademark, and has earned the alternative names of the Blue Felicia, BlueMarguerite, and Blue Daisy and is also known as the shrubby Felicia and theParis daisy. An evergreen shrublet averaging a height of 30-60cm but canreach up to a metre in height. The tiny hairs on the stems and leaves givethe plant a rough feeling. Foliage is dark green on the top and lighteron the undersides, and arranged in a relatively elliptical pattern. Theflower heads are perched on the tops of naked stems, and reach about threecentimetres in diameter. Inside each flower are about a dozen female rayflorets and a number of yellow disc florets. Each floret has a pappus (or amodified calyx) of a ring of white bristles. The fruit is dark brown andcovered in tiny hairs. FLOWERING TIME The flowering time of the Feliciaamelloides is not definite; in some areas, it grows all year round while,in others, it may only bloom in the summer months. Generally, they have along life span, and each plant can be expected to live about five years iftheir habitat and conditions are normal.
