Grow in acidic, dry tomedium, well-drained, sandy or gritty soils in full sun. Tolerates lightshade. Usually grows well in poor infertile soils. Plants should not befertilized. Drought tolerant once established. Likes exposed open sites.Grows poorly in hot and humid summer climates. Difficult to transplant fromthe wild. Propagate by cuttings from the current season’s growth, bylayering, by division (with care because roots dislike disturbance) orspecies plants by seed.
