New Zealand native, Fuchsia Procumbens is a dainty sprawling groundcoverplant with small heart-shaped leaves and intriguing multi-coloured flowersfollowed by small, firm-fleshed red fruit in autumn and winter. Often notexceeding more than a few inches in height, this trailing fuchsia makes agreat ground cover (spreads up to 1.5m) or works well in container, hangingbaskets, or planted so that it may cascade over walls. Fuchsias preferpartial shade and should never dry out. They love water and cooler summertemperatures, and are also heavy feeders. A deciduous creeping perennial,growing up to 50cm, but often only to a few centimetres.

Planting Guide
When plantingfuchsia, start them from transplants around mid-spring. Soil should be highin organic matter have both excellent water holding and drainagecapability. Pinch terminal buds to insure a bushier plant. Once grown, youcan still pinch or lightly prune if plant becomes too leggy. Planting allof the same variety in one basket makes a much nicer show. Mulch heavilywhere winters are cold. Prune back dead or broken branches in spring,especially on plants that were left outside in areas with mild winters.
