Griselinia Canterbury have a tidy and compact habit with contrasting redstems making for an attractive plant that can grow to 5m but is easilytrimmed to between 1.5m and 2m tall. The most popular uses for this NewZealand native shrub is as a hedge. Space at 75cm to 1m apart or as part ofa mass native plant out.
Garden Use
Often used as a greenhedge or screen in formal or structured gardens and as a boundary in acoastal garden. As screening plants they are excellent for hiding unwantedviews such as sheds or neighbouring properties.

Griselinia are hardy shrubs able to handle a wide range ofsoil and climatic conditions. They thrive in coastal conditions beingtolerant to both wind and salt spray and are happy in full sun or partshade. As with many plants the more you can do to the soil, the better theinitial growth will be. Griselinia are rarely bothered by pests ordiseases but do response well to a regular prune. This encourages lots ofnew lush growth. Keep relatively well watered in the first few seasons toprevent them growing leggy.
