A dense growing evergreen shrub with leathery, glossy yellow-green leaves,Griselinia littoralis is commonly used as a hedge or screen as it is ahardy shrub that can be clipped back easily and looks good all year roundwith minimal maintenance. This plant is a good coastal hedge resistingwinds, especially in harsh coastal environment. May suffer frost damage toyoung, early growth in inland areas. For a good dense low hedge plant ataround 60cm apart. For taller hedges you can space Griselinia littoralis at80cm. Griselinia littoralis will reach up to 10m but easy pruning will keepit at 1-2 m.
Planting Guide
This is a fast growing plant,putting on 50cm a year. Prune half of the growth back each year to createa dense bushy habit. Once established to its desired height, prune once ayear in early spring, perhaps with a tidy up in early summer.
