A rounded shrub with a dense, tidy habit, Hebe Red Edge has glaucous leaveswith a distinct red edge to them, in the Winter months the tips develop ared hue as well. In early summer mauve flowers are produced in shortrounded spikes. The hardy Hebe Red Edge is much valued as it is tolerantof a wide range of conditions and requires no maintenance making it anexcellent garden plant or for use in large plantings. It is also useful incontainers, as a low hedge or at the front of a border.

Hebes can be grown as a single specimen or planted in groups forgreat effect. With regular trimming they can form an attractive informalhedge or border and an interesting arrangment in any garden. Very hardy itis well suited to containers, borders and landscape plantings, requiringlittle or no maintenance and is drought tolerant. Hebes are also excellentspecimens for pots and planters as well as rockeries, where they fill inthe dips between rocks perfectly.

Plant inmoist free-draining soil that is poor or moderately fertile. It should bein a sheltered position in full sun or light shade. Hebes needfree-draining soil that is constantly moist, poor- medium fertile, andslightly acidic to slightly alkaline. They require good mulching at alltimes. Hardy on sites sheltered from strong, drying winds and hidden fromdirect winter sunlight, adult hebes usually regenerate readily after harshwinter damage if they are well-established.
