Portugal Laurel is a beautiful, large evergreen shrub or small tree withdark brown bark, glossy dark green, leathery leaves 12 cm long, and stemsof a lovely deep rhubarb color. It is decorated with fragrant tiny whiteflowers in late spring and early summer that give way to small red berriesturning dark-purple by autumn. The berries attract and are consumed bybirds. Grows with a dense, spreading, bushy habit to 7.5m tall with aspread of 4.5m.
